We live in an entangled world. Emotionally, we are bound up in the lives, worries, dreams and fears of our friends, families, lovers, colleagues (and enemies). Physically, we are home to galaxies of microbes, and made of stardust. We are entirely connected to our environments in myriad ways. We are interconnected, interdependent beings.
The multiple interlocking, intersecting crises which humanity faces all call for a recognition and embracing of this entanglement and interconnection - which can be overwhelming for us as individuals. It is hard to find yourself in this forest of interconnectedness, hard to work out which of the mycelial threads of connection are yours, and which you want to be yours.
For me, coaching is a practice of temporary dis-entanglement. In a coaching conversation, the coach, through their attention and whole-body listening, creates a clearing in the forest for the client, so that they can find those threads themselves. The coach walks alongside the client as they explore the paths of their own thinking.

I tend to offer “walking and talking” sessions, where we are both on the phone and walking outside, preferably in a park or other natural space*. I know that I think and listen best when I’m moving. As Rebecca Solnit says “I like walking because it is slow, and I suspect that the mind, like the feet, works at about three miles an hour.”
I’m based in Tottenham in north London, so if you are close to there we could potentially meet up to walk and talk in person.
*if it’s raining or the weather is otherwise grim, we can stay inside!
Coaching is very much controlled by you - you bring the issue you would like to work on, and I have various different tools, frameworks and processes I can bring to help you explore and move forward. My approach is very emergent and I’m happy to work with you with whatever arises.
“I have been able to navigate a really tough time in my career and come out of it feeling like I've made really good choices, which was really important to me because I was feeling very out of control and my confidence had been really knocked back. I think I would be in a much worse situation now if I hadn't had the coaching! I also have some tools that I can use in the future.”
“I am thinking clearer about how to act in situations. I have found strategies to cope better and to be a better version of myself in stressful work situations. I am taking a breath. … [it was helpful] being able to choose what I wanted to focus on, it is amazing what came up for me when I wasn't expecting it. Coming to my own solutions and talking them through. Having models shared so I could visualise what was happening. Thank you so much Kate, I think you might really have changed my life for the better :-)”
I’m really interested in working with anyone who feels they would value a safe and reflective space to work through something. You might be:
